Youth Media Instructor

We are looking for an Executive Director to implement the strategic goals and objectives of the organization. Enable the Board to fulfill its governance function. Give Direction and leadership toward the achievement of the organization’s mission, annual goals, and objectives.

Production Manager

Who we’re looking for …

We are looking for a Production Manager to manage all logistics related to shots, build production schedules, manage shot lists, ensure that productions stay within budgets and deadlines, and ensure productivity. The successful candidate will perform tasks such as taking inventory, making supply orders, and managing student shoots.

Youth Media Instructor

The program culminates in a public screening of their short film.

What you’ll do …

  • Lead and facilitate a diverse team of 10-20 middle to high school-aged students in an intensive, collaborative process of creating a documentary film.
  • Teach collaborative research, shooting, and editing of a social issue documentary.
  • Guide students through a curriculum connecting ideas of media and its impact on societies.
  • Develop engaging and creative lesson plans that promote students’ critical literacy, civic engagement, social-emotional development, and documentary arts skills.
  • Coach and facilitate students’ public premiere screening and presentation of student documentaries
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of production and post-production equipment used by the program participants
  • Attend Media Mentors leadership meetings

Experience and Skills:

  • Teaching experience
  • Experience with editing software preferred (Adobe Premier, iMovie, or WeVideo)
  • Extensive experience working with high school aged youth is a must (specifically from historically marginalized communities)
  • Understanding of principles of positive youth development
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning and personal organization skills
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness and a sense of humor

Specifications:

This is a voluntary part-time contract position, to potentially be paid contingent on project funding. This position reports to and is supported by the Executive Director of Media Mentors.

Executive Director

What you’ll do …

  1. Program, Product, and Service Delivery
  • Oversees all day-to-day operations of Media Mentors
  • Facilitates evaluation of Media Mentors programs and activities
  • Oversees the design, marketing, promotion, delivery, and quality of programs, products, and services
  1. Community and Public Relations
  • Assures the organization mission, programs, and services are consistently presented in strong, positive images
  • Envisions and manages organizational development
  • Engages with community and national organizations to pursue appropriate collaborations
  1. Fundraising and Resource Development
  • Oversees fundraising, planning, and implementation, including identifying resource requirements, researching funding sources, submitting proposals, and administering fundraising records and documentation.
  • Administers and manages current grants, researches, and procures additional funding sources
  1. Board Support
  • Supports operations and administration of Board by advising and informing Board members, interfacing between Board and staff, and supporting Board’s evaluation of Executive Director
  • Maintains close communication with co-chairs and other executive board members for oversight of Media Mentors’ operations and long-range planning
  • In collaboration with Executive Board develops and implements sustainability options
  1. Financial, Tax, Risk, and Facilities Management
  • Recommends yearly budget for Board approval and manages organization’s resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations
  • Oversees financial management and budget in collaboration with Board Treasurer
  1. Human Resource Management
  • Effectively manages the human resources of the organization according to personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations

Experience and Skills:

  • Three-five years in nonprofit administration, preferably in a leadership role
  • Passion for mission of healthy youth development
  • Community collaboration experience; understanding of local community desirable
  • Experience procuring, writing and managing grants and other resource development
  • Visionary as well as detail-oriented; highly organized self-starter
  • Team player – able to work collaboratively with youth and adult and build strong teams

Production Manager 

Who we’re looking for …

We are looking for a Production Manager to manage all logistics related to shots, build production schedules, manage shot lists, ensure that productions stay within budgets and deadlines, and ensure productivity. The successful candidate will perform tasks such as taking inventory, making supply orders, and managing student shoots.

What you’ll do …

  • Lead all visual media strategy, production, and distribution for corporate and property-specific marketing initiatives
  • Create budgets for company and project-specific video projects
  • Plan and develop video content for various channels such as the Media Mentors website, YouTube, property websites, social media, etc.
  • Manage end-to-end video projects, including pre-production, scripting, interviewing, talent management, shooting, editing, color correction, and distribution
  • Transport, set up, and operate various production equipment, including cameras, audio and video recorders, lighting equipment, props, and microphones for location and studio production
  • Oversee all equipment purchases and gear maintenance; obtain and service equipment as necessary
  • Stay up-to-date with all new technological advances in media production equipment, software and technology
  • Collect B-roll footage, and interview staff and/or clients
  • Most commonly, you will be responsible for single-camera shoots
  • Also, still photography and photo editing proficiency is a major plus

Experience and Skills:

  • 3 to 5 years experience and/or Training in Film, Mass Media, or a related subject
  • Past experience producing content for the web specifically, as well as channel-specific knowledge (blog, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
